Carlo Goldoni's comic masterpiece comes to Delbarton this fall!
Drawing on the Italian tradition of commedia dell'arte, Goldoni's quick-witted and deft masterpiece is structured around complications, improvisations, miscommunications, mistaken identities and outright deceptions. The play revolves around the wily, greedy servant Truffaldino who, in trying to fill both his purse and his stomach, attempts to serve two masters simultaneously.
Even if you're not familiar with the genre, you've seen the influence of commedia dell'arte in most modern comedy, from the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges to Monty Python and beyond. The Abbey Players' production of "The Servant of Two Masters" is a hilarious, modern take on Goldoni's classic play.
